YOU ARE A GOD !!! How on earth could you possibly do that so quickly ?

Julien Humbert commented on 2012-03-13 at 09:21:

Yeah, let's use it to rock it \o/

James King commented on 2012-03-13 at 09:27:

Any chance you could make a version with Ro.secure=1? Does this break anything essential? We apparently need it for sky go to function.

Chainfire for President :D

One beer donated!

Thx for the great work!

Andrew Dodd commented on 2012-03-13 at 12:27:

+James King It breaks root in ADB shells.

John Paul commented on 2012-03-13 at 12:44:

and then there was root..

James King commented on 2012-03-13 at 17:58:

Thanks Andrew Dodd. Not sure I really use that! (i.e., a terminal?) Would prefer to use Sky Go!

Chainfire commented on 2012-03-13 at 18:19:

+James King I may make a ro.secure=1 version later tonight or tomorrow - no promises, though. +Andrew Dodd Not really, it just makes it slightly less convenient.... you have to use "su" and "adb remount" doesn't work (use: adb shell -> su -> mount -o rw,remount /system -> ... any other root commands ... -> exit -> exit). Just a little different.

James King commented on 2012-03-13 at 18:22:

That would be great +Chainfire - thanks for all you do :)

Andrew Dodd commented on 2012-03-13 at 18:24:

For me, not having ro.secure=0 is a pain in the butt... But I guess I can just fix that myself. Do you know where that setting is parsed? It might be possible to make an alteration elsewhere that gives the best of both worlds.

James King commented on 2012-03-13 at 18:27:

+Andrew Dodd I'm afraid I don't even know what your question means! I just know this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23399899&highlight=ro+secure#post23399899

Allan French commented on 2012-03-13 at 18:36:

Anychance someone could post a link to download the Rom in question ?

Chainfire commented on 2012-03-13 at 18:48:

+Andrew Dodd Unfortunately the setting has to be "baked" into the kernel at this time. But I can make two versions ...

Andrew Dodd commented on 2012-03-13 at 19:30:

I just started looking at the source for adbd - might be possible to hack it up to ignore ro.secure and provide "insecure" privileges anyway... https://github.com/CyanogenMod/android_system_core/blob/ics/adb/adb.c#L874 - maybe a project for Wednesday.

Chainfire commented on 2012-03-13 at 21:07:

That's actually a great idea! Don't forget to let it use /sbin/sh instead of /system/bin/sh if it doesn't already.

EDIT: Can't believe I never thought of this. Modifying code now :)

Chainfire commented on 2012-03-13 at 22:02:

Code modified... there'll be an update to CF-Root for LPQ tomorrow, after I fix some other problems (or at least try to). It will have ro.secure=1, and have patched adbd :)

James King commented on 2012-03-13 at 23:32:

Wow. Sounds like that is an awesome solution to this... problem with Sky Go, and hopefully other items :)

James King commented on 2012-03-13 at 23:49:

Just a quick FYI - I am now on official LPQ ROM, with official LPQ kernel, rooted, and with SuperSU installed. I've hidden root, using SuperSU, and I can run Sky Go. Fantastic. Now I just hope I can use a Chainfire Kernel and get the same functionality with Sky Go!

todin nidot commented on 2012-03-14 at 07:09:

guys.. i want to flash LPQ rom using mobile odin.. can i flash cf-root at the same time?

Chainfire commented on 2012-03-14 at 07:48:

Yes.

todin nidot commented on 2012-03-14 at 07:58:

orait thank you..

Basti Hoffmann commented on 2012-03-14 at 09:27:

+Chainfire I was using CF-Root for official LPQ with SuperSU but I noticed some lags on boot. It seems that SuperSU is a little to slow on auto-grant root for some apps like SetCPU or LBE Privacy Guard. Did anyone else notice something like this?

Is it possible to uninstall SuperSU and install SU instead? SU on LPH didn't make problems on boot.
