Play should update within a few hours of this posting. This should take care of all the serious outstanding issues that I'm aware of. Unless something is seriously wrong, this is going to be the last update (to StickMount) for a while, with the holidays coming up and lots of other projects that need work :)

For discussion, feature requests, etc, there's always the XDA thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1400034

Changelogs:

  • Adjustment to NTFS mounting

  • UTF-8 mount adjustment (now enabled by default for new users)

  • Changed (un)mounting strategy to repetitive scan

  • Rearranged preference order

  • Adjusted partition detection

  • Reworked notification (Jelly Bean +)

  • Toast notification no longer shown if turned off in preferences

+Chainfire - would this support something like an externally powered usb hdd as well?

Oh, and i forgot to tell you: great work! Love your DSLR Controller too!

+Jan Ingolf Kleppe Usually, yes.

will give it a try... I did not find a tool yet able to auto-mount my external ext4-formatted harddrive.

in fact it should be very simple. my gt-n7000 detects the device and I am able to to mount -t ext4 /dev/block/sda1 /storage/usbOTG....

not one of all those tools out there is able to do this simple job :-)

(usbOTG is created using userinit.sh)

Uli Herrmann commented on 2012-12-14 at 22:00:

thanks Roelf, will have a look there. I simply do not understand the problem. In fact I found one app - even able to set the mountpoint. But it was not very stable and crashed often. So I moved back to my shell.

Tried this on my SGS3, didn't work. :( Would really come in handy if it did!

Daniel Dorau commented on 2012-12-15 at 20:33:

Thanks for the update, but I'm still not able to mount an ext2 stick on my N7 (this worked well with 4.1). FAT does work though. With my ext2 stick I have an empty directory and mount on the shell shows that the partition is not mounted at all. So the mount seems to fail. Manually mounting on the shell does work.

Actually I have yet to get this app to work on Android 4.1.2, when others I have used work just fine. Still don't mind supporting chainfire because your other apps are great. But no worky on nexus 7.

Just had something weird happen with the play version of stick mount. Was watching a video off a mount. Paused the vid and returned after 30m or so. After waking the n7, the vid refused to play. The mount was gone & sm was confused. Looks like sm does not handle sleep/wake cycles well....

Just installed stick mount after rooting my Nexus 10 (for stick mount in particular). What an awesome app! Now I can play movies from my flash drive. One question tho: It won't mount a mass storage USB drive. It mounts, then unmounts and over again. I have a bad feeling the Nexus 10 doesn't have enough power to drive the disk on the usb drive. Does that sound right? Why would it work with a flash drive but not a mass storage drive? Thanks for the awesome app. Will be upgrading to pro!

Great work Chainfire with Stickmount! It really saves the day for many of us using devices that will require access to other storage devices. I personally dislike Mac structures and interfaces for being too 'exclusive' and that's why i opt for android. I only have one query. After i upgraded my Nexus 7 to android 4.2, i noticed that i could no longer mount my storage devices as easily as before. I have used rootkeeper (before upgrading the tablet to 4.2) to ensure that i restore my root (Superuser apk) access to my tablet. Unfortunately, there are only brief responses from stickmount but the storage devices are not mounted. I read your post in forum-xda that says there could be issues regarding the cable being used. I don't know what could have gone wrong with the cable, though i think the the inconsistent behavior may be cable related. I plan to buy a new cable and see if this continues. If not, what other issues could you possibly consider in my case? I hope that this experience will help me to teach others to also set up their devices with OTG capabilities. Thanks and happy new year.

Marco Pezzotti commented on 2013-03-06 at 15:01:

with the latest update of Android 4.2 JB, on my rooted nexus 10, this application does not work anymore.

in the file manager there is the folder of the USB stick, but inside there's just an empty folder.

What can I do?

Vijay Boyapati commented on 2013-03-06 at 15:03:

+Marco Pezzotti I had to re-root my Nexus 10 to get stick mount working again

I also have a empty folder problem. Nexus 10

Jim Allegood commented on 2013-07-26 at 14:35:

Will StickMount work with JB 4.3 or will an update be required?

Patrick Lee commented on 2013-10-03 at 20:02:

Seem to be having trouble with it on nexus 7 fhd. Mounts fine, files viewable. But when I unmount, it seems to unmount the internal emulated SD as well. When I go download files, it gives my no SD found. Fixed when I reboot the tablet.
