+Chainfire I have SU currently... How would I get SuperSU? How's does multiuser work?

Rich Henderson commented on 2013-02-23 at 13:56:

Thanks, updated.

Chainfire commented on 2013-02-23 at 14:05:

+Zahid Hasan Just install it from Play, it should overwrite Superuser. As for multi-user, you need a multi-user capable tablet (Android 4.2) - it's obvious how it works if you have that :)

Patrick Fallon commented on 2013-02-23 at 15:32:

Thank you. I've installed this on my HTC One S running CM 10.1 nightlies.

Zahid Hasan commented on 2013-02-23 at 15:40:

+Chainfire can I always revert back to SU? ... Not that I would but in case. I installed it but it was a separate app. I will wait until I update my ROM.

And I have 4.01

John Joseph commented on 2013-02-23 at 15:45:

I had to check to see if there are any apps by Chainfire I haven't purchased... and there is one. I am sure if I pick up a DSLR camera I would get that too. I like the option to choose between the 5 SuperSU icons. PerfMon and especially adbd insecure have helped me so many times!

Josh Correll commented on 2013-02-23 at 15:47:

Thx for the constant support. 1.05 was giving me problems, not anymore!

Clive Richards commented on 2013-02-23 at 16:15:

I just re-rooted my device using Toolkit (from XDA dev) after the latest firmware broke root.

It all went fine but now I cant run SuperUser because each time it updates I get a message that it fails - I can update from Play and add my pro licence upgrade but still when I try to run it I get the message that the binary needs to update and then it fails.

Seems to be working in the background in that rooted apps run ok but I can access the SU interface at all?  Not sure how to get suppport on paid version?

Chainfire commented on 2013-02-23 at 16:17:

+Clive Richards In case of trouble, the easiest fix is usually to flash the ZIP installer in TWRP, CWM, or MobileODIN: http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu

Soon that will actually be an option offered by SuperSU in case of problems :)

Nice! Keep up the good work!

Clive Richards commented on 2013-02-23 at 19:14:

thanks for the update - I flashed it using mobile odin - seemed to work ok but when I go back in I still get the update binary message and it is still failing.  It's odd because when I rooted just over a week ago it all worked fine but when I updated the version through kies I lost root - had been hoping SU was going to maintain it but id didn't (to be fair it wasn't guaranteed to work)  I uninstalled all my rooted apps. Then once I was happy the freezing problem was fixed I used the ToolKit to root again exactly the same way - I then ran the super user update on the play store - seemed to work fine but it still wanted to update the binary after - I also installed the pro license again in case that was a problem.

Should I just try flashing it again - it's the first time I have used mobile odin so I could possibly have done something wrong - I put the zip file on my external SD card - ran mobile odin

Selected OTA/Update Zip

Browsed for and selected file

scrolled down and clicked flash firmware

it ran ok and booted back into the system but it still wont update - I am relatively new to rooting (have rooted one tablet before)

When I look at the installing the file using Rom Toolkit - it is prompting me to prepare by wiping dalvik-cache so wondering if this is something I should have done in mobile ODIN - I am treating route very cautiously for the moment of course!

Clive Richards commented on 2013-02-23 at 19:28:

just went bad to worse - decided to boot into recovery and use TWRP which ran through the process but when I run Super User now - it is telling me "there is no SU binary installed and Super SU cannot install it - this is a problem" - went to google play which tells me it is installed so cant re-install it from there?  any ideas what to do next?

Clive Richards commented on 2013-02-23 at 19:43:

now my rebooter app wont reboot to recovery and Mobile Odin says no superuser is installed - cant install it from play because that says it is installed

Chainfire commented on 2013-02-24 at 08:20:

+Clive Richards You are having a heap of trouble it seems. Unfortunately I don't really know what could fix it. Try going to Settings --> Apps and see if you can uninstall SuperSU manually, then reboot, then try flashing the ZIP again. If all else fails, you might actually have to re-flash your firmware and re-root to get it to work again :(

david peck commented on 2013-02-24 at 09:45:

Splendid

Clive Richards commented on 2013-02-24 at 10:06:

Hi By using CF-Root I have managed to get superSU working again so that it grants permissions. I also got TWRP back using mobile ODIN. However superSU still wont open without the upgrade popping up, and that failing - so still cant actually open the programme to make sure that the pro version is maintained (google simply says it is installed but it said that when the binary wasn't there too!)

There are a few similar reports on XDA dev forum now so I am not alone.  My plan is to leave it running in the background only until a new version is released.  I could go through the whole process of re-flashing the stock rom and re-rooting,  only to find the same thing happens again.
