Hopefully this will be the final test release, before a new Play release. If you are still running v1.10, you may also want to read the notes on the previous test release here: https://plus.google.com/113517319477420052449/posts/352zsjLJPgN

Changelog

  • Fixed custom dialog box themes in light+darkactionbar theme

  • New prompt activity for >= API 14 (Android 4.0)

Test

The access prompt screen is completely renewed, please try to break it :)

Feedback

Feedback is preferred in the XDA thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053 - but obviously I also read comments here.

NOTE As last time, the link will be taken down if a new version (test or public) is available. You will also see this same changelog again with a public release. This is only for people who know what they're doing :)

EDIT: Link removed, Play update released ! :)

and you were worried about other SU apps :)

I like the new prompt screen :-) though I dont undersrand what you meant by breaking it?!

Clayton Nummer commented on 2013-02-27 at 17:38:

I like the new prompt screen, but it should follow the selected app theme.

Cool beans. Thank you.

Chris Johnson commented on 2013-02-27 at 18:37:

Do you think you might consider open sourcing SuperSU in response to the CWMSU app coming out?

Vince Moser commented on 2013-02-27 at 19:10:

Works well, no problems at all

Patrik Sletmo commented on 2013-02-27 at 23:21:

Works great! The new prompt screen is a lot better than the old one imo

Chainfire commented on 2013-02-27 at 23:56:

+Omar Bizreh Just testing it in every which way, to see if it crashes or does something unexpected.

+Clayton Nummer The next update will have Holo Dark support for the prompt as well (there will not be "device default" support though, that will then default to Holo Dark, as device default is too unpredictable for such an information packed and important screen)

+Chris Johnson I have actually been considering opening up the su binary itself (though not the UI at first - long story, the binary is where all the important bits are at anyway) for some time now, seeing as we just hit v1.0 and SuperSU has finally become somewhat stable (yay!). But what you're saying is exactly why I'm trying not to even think about it right now; If I do, everybody is going to claim it's because of CWMSU, if I don't, all the hate (I get a lot of shit about this), questions, and jabs will continue (and probably increase).

But ultimately, I don't think it even matters - CWM is in much higher standing with the ROM community than I am, and enough of those guys don't like me (some even with valid reasons), that it will become dominant completely regardless of what I do - open source or not

So consider it ? Yes - I have been. Heck, the code is being reviewed by some security pros already in anticipation of it. But is it going to happen ? I really don't know.

Bad enough it's being said I've only added multiuser because of CWMSU - even though I announced that update before anybody knew about CWMSU... I'm quite sure I'll get the same shit about switching to the white theme by default, as CWMSU also uses that - even though I've been talking about how much I love that look since I made it available in SuperSU. Everything I do from now on will be interpreted as "in response to CWMSU".

Oh the joy!

In +Chainfire s defense, I follow the SuperSU thread on XDA and have read every post on every page of the thread. I know for a fact that going open source and revamping the UI were on his mind for a long time. Well before the CWM SU were announced and probably before the idea was even conceived.

+Chainfire  thanks for clearing it up. So far I had no issues, on GT i9300 4.1.2 :-)
