I know a lot of you have been wondering why DSLR Controller hasn't been updated in a while.

Well, the new update is coming, very soon.

My plan was to release the update today, but then I had a new idea on a possible optimization for the liveview code. I've since built that optimization into DSLR Controller as proof-of-concept, and initial tests show a reduction of liveview latency by 30-60%, which I'm sure those who use DSLR Controller for video will appreciate. This code still needs a few days of attention to be production ready, but I think this is improvement is big enough to delay the update (once more).

To tease, some other additions in the next update are improved stability, the capability to connect with the 6D and WFT's wirelessly, as well as image transfer capabilities (automatically at capture time, or manually at review time). Of course, a selection of minor changes and features requested by users through email and the XDA thread are also implemented.

Will it work for Sony NEX 5?

Y'know, this makes me want to upgrade my old 20D... but, then again... :)

I wish I could +1 this more than once

I have a canon 7d - is that supported?

Dave Muller commented on 2013-04-16 at 10:31:

7D sure is.  My bro-in-law hooked his up to my TF101

Alto Speckhardt commented on 2013-04-16 at 11:12:

Super! Looking forward to it!

BTW: Will it leave Beta-status (even if it's only the name) anytime soon?

David Knox commented on 2013-04-16 at 11:15:

excellent looking forward to that app update notification

Chainfire commented on 2013-04-16 at 11:25:

+Alto Speckhardt Seeing as USB host functionality is still flaky at best, even across the board of high-end only Android devices, I'm reluctant to reduce the beta tag at all, to be honest.

Even some HTC's now have USB host, but in a major Google (LG ?) messup, the Nexus 4 for example doesn't have it. That's two Google phones in a row they messed that up, but at least the Galaxy Nexus could be fixed with a firmware update ...

If the next Nexus (phone) properly(!) supports USB host, then maybe ...

That's not to say that version may not go over 1.0 :)

Dave Muller commented on 2013-04-16 at 11:27:

Besides that, it's cool to use beta software

Once I get my hands on a new tablet I'm getting this!

Will it work for my Pentax Spotmatic?

What about my Rolleiflex TLR?

What about my matchbox pinhole camera?

Any chance for the app to send location to the camera and work as a GPS dongle?

Saurabh S commented on 2013-04-16 at 12:59:

+Chainfire Can you make photo transfer optional? If I take time lapse using the app, at the end, it starts transferring all the pics to phone!

Alto Speckhardt commented on 2013-04-16 at 13:21:

Indeed! Especially when shooting raw, the large files take a moment to transmit. It would be nice to be able to skip that delay if you're not interested in reviewing on the spot anyway. Besides, these days memory cards are usually larger than (internal) phone storage.

Chainfire commented on 2013-04-16 at 13:36:

+Nicandros Nicolaou Not until I can figure out the protocol used, and then it would still be only for a few select EOS models. Probably just not worth it.

+Saurabh Singhavi +Alto Speckhardt Wait and see. Obviously I'm not forcing image transfer on anyone. It's completely optional.

I have purchased hated this and am incredibly happy I did

Canon t4i works as expected.

Alto Speckhardt commented on 2013-04-16 at 14:58:

+Jason Johnson ... you mean you hated not having this capability before DSLR Controller? ;-)

Ty Darapiza commented on 2013-04-16 at 15:33:

This is what i've been waiting for.  Thanks a ton Chainfire! Greatest Dev ever!

Jay Jay commented on 2013-04-16 at 15:37:

Yes lol that's what I meant

Pawel Madej commented on 2013-05-19 at 11:39:

Hey. I was wondering if there was a way to get my back and home and the other keys to work on my nexus 4. I know I can use my pie and Navy keys. But what about the other soft keys?
