This is BETA version and will not be distributed via Play Store. I ask tech-savvy rooters (those who know how to recover from a bad root) to test this version on every Android device and version they have and report back issues (to the XDA thread, please). Please do not redistribute this version (don't upload it elsewhere, don't include it in ROMs, etc)

I don't normally distribute test versions outside of private circles, but this update is more than the normal dose of fixes and adjustments.

I've been working with security people on hardening parts of the su code. I'd like to stress that this is not in response to new exploits, just maintenance. As this includes adding and changing a lot of code snippets, there's always the chance we've completely broken root on specific firmwares. If that is the case, I would certainly like to know before rolling out this update to a couple of dozen million people.

Notes on ART

I've had various crashes and issues with ART and this version, not sure what's going on here. OAT file is wiped on ZIP installation as well. You should probably just turn off ART for the time being.

Changelog

  • Fixed OTA survival 4.3 --> 4.4

  • Fixed unresponsive tabs on 2.x devices

  • Fixed white flicker when using dark theme

  • Fixed issue with language resetting on some firmwares

  • Fixed upgrading from CWM SU to SuperSU on 4.3+ without reboot

  • Added mgyun root (vroot) uninstall procedure

  • Added xxhdpi icons (if available)

  • Stop touching .has_su_daemon

  • Several dozen security hardening commits

Is working fine at the moment. :) does any of you ever had problems with android 4.3 where game killer or any of this kind of apps just simply doesn't work? I think it has to be related with supersu. I can't make it work :/

Wong Chun Cheung commented on 2013-11-18 at 17:23:

Hi developer, I am using the Nexus 7 2012 (OLD NEXUS 7) with TEMP recovery rooted using nexus root toolkit in the android 4.3 JWR66Y with purchased SuperSU Pro from google play while I enabled the survial mode. I have bootloader UNLOCKED, I have NO custom recovery right now (still STOCK recovery) and I am waiting for the OTA 4.4 kitkat from google officially. (I will NOT use sideload update or the flash system.img to update). I want to make sure that in the V1.69 of SuperSU pro can ENABLE the superSU SURVIVAL MODE in order to OTA and keep root permission WITHOUT re-rooting the device again after the 4.4 update. Thanks fot solving.

MR PNUT commented on 2013-11-18 at 21:23:

K does anyone has the SU apk before this new beta? For some reason I lost root privileges with this new beta :(

Evan Rae Uri commented on 2013-11-19 at 00:51:

+OSCAR JORQUEZ Have you tried disabling the root then enabling it again in SuperSU? Anyway, I think the one in the play store is still 1.69.

MR PNUT commented on 2013-11-19 at 00:52:

Thx bro...but I just flashed 1.69 supersu zip and back to normal

Bedjam Rivera commented on 2013-11-19 at 06:20:

Only problem I seem to have with this version is that my Nexus 4 heats up faster and drains the battery. I'm going back to the older 1.69 version

Technology Gurus 4 Life commented on 2013-11-19 at 07:43:

Superuser beta works just fine on my phone using LG Optimus G Pro with root and art.

MR PNUT commented on 2013-11-19 at 07:46:

I think mines messed up when I was editing my build.prop because before I touched that I had no problems

Mark Janssen commented on 2013-11-19 at 13:31:

This only works on the N7100 with new Indian MK4 firmware if you remove the Superuser.apk from the zip and install Superuser from the market. Flashing the full zip and starting Superuser leads to a FC (ClassNotFoundException)

John O Connell commented on 2013-11-19 at 15:47:

Seems to work fine on a Nexus 7 (2012) Android 4.4

Matteo Mannicci commented on 2013-11-19 at 18:33:

No more language problem with omega rom 4.1.2 on S3

Boer en Karpers commented on 2013-11-19 at 22:38:

Having problems here on HTC One after flashing the 1.72beta version...

When starting app a message pops up, stating that the su binary file is not installed and that I've got to manually re-root the device again...

downgrading to 1.69 version doesn't change that... All rooted apps work though...

Bedjam Rivera commented on 2013-11-19 at 22:42:

+De Karper Boer I had to reflash my current ROM and then flash the older 1.69 version to fix my issue on my Nexus 4. If you decide to do this, don't worry you won't lose your data.

byn gómez commented on 2013-11-19 at 22:51:

corrige efecivamente el problema de cambio de idioma al reiniciar o apagar, probado en I8190N

Boer en Karpers commented on 2013-11-19 at 22:53:

+Bedjam Rivera I won't lose data like mail accounts etc? Because I'm not looking forward in having a new install keeping me busy all evening...

Bedjam Rivera commented on 2013-11-19 at 23:11:

No you won't. I did it to mine and I didn't lose anything. Since you're flashing the same ROM again you don't have to do a factory reset.

MR PNUT commented on 2013-11-19 at 23:23:

+De Karper Boer just re flash the 1.69 zip that's it that's wat I had to do.

MR PNUT commented on 2013-11-20 at 02:47:

+Damian Wallace you could do that with root explore

MR PNUT commented on 2013-11-20 at 03:22:

+Damian Wallace no it doesn't matter same thing you just pushed it to system instead of flashing

Romeo Touchh commented on 2013-11-20 at 04:11:

Buena onda por hacer el roteo superar mega fácil :) good

Boer en Karpers commented on 2013-11-20 at 06:02:

+Bedjam Rivera Thanks, working like a charm again...

Boer en Karpers commented on 2013-11-20 at 06:02:

+OSCAR JORQUEZ That didn't work for me, needed the reflash...

MR PNUT commented on 2013-11-20 at 06:11:

+De Karper Boer yeah I just move the apk file to system/ apps then changed permission reboot and I was good to go.

quentin d commented on 2013-11-20 at 08:52:

How to flash on a stock 4.3 n7105xxuemk5.

i tried to root with cf-root but the root is blocked by the security system.

i tried so many things, what can i do?

I have the stock recovery also.

MR PNUT commented on 2013-11-20 at 08:58:

+quentin d sorry bud but you need root.

quentin d commented on 2013-11-20 at 09:40:

That's what i try to do actually! The root is blocked i have a notification that tells me supersu have tried an unauthorised acces and that it's blocked.

That's the problem i can't root it.

I just tryed a factory reset, reflash the rom and reflash supersu just after the flashing of the rom. Will see if it works.

Tell me if you have an advice i definitely need root!!

Thanks in advance

MR PNUT commented on 2013-11-20 at 09:46:

Oh k I'm confused.....so you are rooted if you flashed a custom rom, if so just re flash supersu 1.6.5 then go to the play store and update it which will be 1.6.9

quentin d commented on 2013-11-20 at 09:47:

Before that i was on 4.1.2 stock rooted and now i flash 4.3 stock and i try to root it but no way.

That's the problem

MR PNUT commented on 2013-11-20 at 09:49:

+quentin d k so you got an update to 4.3 which device are you currently using?

quentin d commented on 2013-11-20 at 09:55:

N7105

quentin d commented on 2013-11-20 at 09:55:

That's an update I done not an ota update

Maicon Rodrigues commented on 2013-11-20 at 12:01:

Boer en Karpers commented on 2013-11-24 at 10:42:
