I have just uploaded v1.91 to Google Play, it should start updating within a few hours. The flashable ZIP is already available here: http://download.chainfire.eu/supersu . In-depth discussion and bug reports should go the XDA thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1538053

This update will trigger a binary update (sorry). It is mainly a bugfix release fixing some edge-case issues.  There's a little bit of handling future issues as well, for more details on that wait for my next post, which should be later today.

I've included the v1.89 changes in the changelog, as that version never made it to Google Play.

Changelogs

  • New -cn/--context parameter for su binary (devs: see How-To SU update)

  • Handle mksh being switched out for sh

  • Daemon forces new session immediately at launch (moved up)

  • Fixed reading dynamic properties on 4.4 (update ASAP if 4.4 user)

  • Fixed issue where root wasn't granted on CM

  • Updated language files

  • (v1.89) Add support for Samsung 4.4

  • (v1.89) Update copyright notices to 2014

Why sometime especially after reboot supersu take great amount of time to give root to apps??

Александр commented on 2014-01-20 at 12:42:

Cool

Chainfire commented on 2014-01-20 at 13:08:

One bug, try launch supersu, press button Recent, try open supersu. Its broken.

Joseph Barney commented on 2014-01-20 at 17:42:

I dunno if this is the place for tech support but how do I enable OTA survival? My phone is wanting to install an update. Thanks! Nice app!

Joseph Barney commented on 2014-01-20 at 18:01:

I just read in Google play that all support is on the XDA developers forum only. headed there. Oops! I'm new to this sort of thing. Kinda surprised I got this far. Hehe

Joe Philipps commented on 2014-01-20 at 19:40:

+Joseph Barney, it is in the settings, right on the first level.  It is a checkbox.  It requires purchasing SuperSU Pro.

Joe Philipps commented on 2014-01-20 at 19:50:

+Rudy Rude, nope, the SuperSU apk will live happily in /data/app.  In fact, if one updates it, the update goes into /data/app, just like any other installed app.  On boot, the system checks the version numbers declared in the respective APKs, and ignores e.g. /system/app/Superuser.apk .  Usually you will see a message to this effect through adb logcat (assuming adb is enabled).

Noone can much help you with rooting or your failed OTA update unless you provide details.  For example, how are you rooting?  Since I have a Nexus 7, I unlocked the bootloader, used fastboot to boot TWRP recovery, selected the ADB sideload function, and used "adb sideload SuperSU-v1.86.zip" (at the time, and have been updating through Play since).  You may have used one of the CF-Autoroots.  You may have used some other method with other tools; I don't know.  Are there any messages when you try about what it could or could not do?

Same thing with the OTA...what happens when you try?  "It fails" is much too generic.

Joe Philipps commented on 2014-01-20 at 19:56:

+pyler sm, I'm not sure what you're trying to ask, sorry.  But if you mean, why does it not show up in the recently used apps list, it specifically declares that property in its manifest file.  Unless the author chooses to change that attribute in the manifest in the distributed APK, it will never show.  It's not so much a bug as it is the intention of the author for some reason.

Joseph Barney commented on 2014-01-20 at 20:20:

+Joe Philipps thanks!

Wim Vandekerckhove commented on 2014-01-20 at 21:40:

+Chainfire ever since updating to the latest version on my nexus 7 2013 Greenpower app often has problems enabling WiFi again after it gets auto disabled, it often gets sick on enabling and the switch itself doesn't work anymore. Only device reboot fixes that

Chris B commented on 2014-01-20 at 22:08:

Thank you for your work. I keep buying your stuff as it help you do this work.

brandon stevens commented on 2014-01-20 at 23:25:

Galaxy s3 rooted 4.1.2, then uograded to 4.3. All hell broke out, flashing, reflashing, downgrading then upgrading. No good. Kept losing root (or never getting it).

Phone is now very clearly fixed. THANK YOU!!!!

I want to know about knox reset if you please can give me the link for the latest stage of knox reseter to 0x0. Thanks.

José A. Santiago Méndez commented on 2014-01-20 at 23:57:

The problem is that i have bootloader 4.3 with knox and i want to downgrade and if is possible reset knox counter.

brandon stevens commented on 2014-01-21 at 06:45:

+Rudy Rude thank you, but I was aware of this. There was just something not right with the phone until this update. After upgrading to 4.3 I must have flashed/reset this phone 2 dozen times. Then yesterday this update appeared in Play, simply applied, done - both phone and I are happy. And just wanted to thank CF. Couple beers in the bin too. :-)

Miguel x-Ego commented on 2014-01-21 at 08:25:

Muy buena actualización.

Chris Dack commented on 2014-01-21 at 13:36:

+Rudy Rude if you so much as breath on the system directory checksum will fail. Examples I have had to fix: removal or modification of keyboard languages. Any kernel changes at all. Any titanium options that incorporate updates into system. Also Gps.conf or build.Prop changes are not allowed. Finally after fixing all those I found my wifi bin were still different checksum to that being checked by the ota script so I have up and flashed the system .bin from the stock images.

John Connor commented on 2014-01-21 at 14:55:

Hi, Is it possible to install it in an Android 4.1.2 Emulator? Can you tell me how to push it? Thanks!

Jeff C commented on 2014-01-21 at 22:08:

+Chainfire After installing the latest SuperSU, I'm no longer able to perform Wireless Tether with FoxFi or Trevor Mod. I've reinstalled FoxFi and re flashed current ROM. Galaxy S3 with Jellybeans from Beantown106. After updating FoxFi had me install a certificate which it didn't before. Any ideas?

Joaquín Pérez Palau commented on 2014-01-22 at 01:47:

Well, i just installed Super SU from Google play, it just rebooted my phone to factory... T_T

Cleveland Stamps commented on 2014-01-22 at 08:11:

Why is difficult for some ROMs to update su binary. I actually lost root on smartdroid ROM for sg4 i9500. Even though my backups are still rooted.

Saravana Bharathi commented on 2014-01-23 at 07:40:

+vijay lakhinana  You cant ask him for your phones update, its just super user app(For rooting)..it wont give you 4.4.2 update. Wait till micromax provides the update or a developer.

Sere Seraph commented on 2014-01-23 at 12:24:

+Chainfire  Thank you for your hard work. But sometimes after I'd rebooted my GT-N7100 (SSGN-II), super SU had no SU binary installed; so I had to reboot again and again to solve this problem. Any suggestion will appreciate me much.

Subhash Chander commented on 2014-01-28 at 12:06:

Ashwin Kumar k commented on 2014-01-31 at 14:27:

Keep up the good work bro!

But there is a freeze issue on tab (p3110) (on Slim Kat and CM 4.4.2 ) the app takes a long time to ask for granting root permission by which time some apps FC.

Except for that all the other issues are fixed

Phil commented on 2014-02-01 at 18:51:

<3 Thanks for your app, +Chainfire

Leonardo Barreto commented on 2014-02-22 at 15:42:

Chainfire is already available for the CF root GTI9500 with android 4.4.2?

Lion Best commented on 2014-02-25 at 10:59:

So, maybe some of you know, or maybe even the Chainfire himself, but I understand that he is busy.

I got this Note 3 MJ3, why would the Regionlock Away not work?

I am rooted using Kingo Root.
