As one of the worst cases of unfortunate timing I've had in a long time, after delay after delay (business stuff, legal stuff, tax authority stuff, setup stuff, ...) I just got word that the USB video monitoring (only) version of DSLR Controller for the jailbroken iPad may finally be available from Cydia at the end of this weekend!

I call this unfortunate timing as I will be leaving for vacation just before the release may happen. I keep saying may, because the BigBoss guys are going to try to do some basic testing first, and if something major fails, they will (obviously) not publish it. And if they do publish it and you (and others) still run into issues, it will be a while before I return from vacation and can look into the problem (so buyer beware)!

Still, people have literally been begging me to release this via various channels, so I've still asked the BigBoss guys to push it out as soon as possible, rather than to wait until I have returned.

So keep an eye on Cydia, and if it does appear, please actively spread the word!

In the box below is a link to the official page of the iPad app (for now), including a short teaser video and links to the relevant Cydia pages, though those obviously will not work until the app is published.

Hopefully you will be able to enjoy it within a few days - and if not, I'll guess I'll hear about it in a few weeks.

Is this possible to do with the GoPro Hero 3+ Black Edition?

Just purchased the DSLR controller for my iPad Mini (1st gen) connected to a Canon 600D T3i. I can monitor the live view but when i press record on video mode my camera stops recording. I appriciate the early release of this app before your vacation and i assume this was one of the bugs within this release. Any news on a new version?

Dennis Williams commented on 2014-11-08 at 00:35:

The app link does not open please find a way of making thing as simple as possible please especially for the iPads

Try this one, don't know if it will work as i copied it from my cydia app forder. I think you just need to do the inverse, copie it to your cydia app folder (and then restart !?). It´s for IOS, march version.

Is there any further development being done on this app? It's nice to be able to see everything I'm filming through the USB but since the camera locks everything when something's plugged into the usb, it's rather limiting at the moment. Right now I have a portable HDMI screen that allows for full control of the camera as well as being able to see all my on screen info from magic lantern, I'd hoped this app would have the same functionality.
