SuperSU v2.17 BETA and L retail

I'm throwing the 2.17 BETA version out there for you all to enjoy. As usual the flashable ZIP can be pulled from my server, the link is in the box below.

This will probably be the last release before L retail hits, as that is rumored to be available Monday. I am leaving to visit some friends in Germany soon, and I will probably be back late on Monday myself. That could be before or after the L drop, but even I'm back in time I might be too tired to deal with it.

So, let's hope this version of SuperSU works on L retail, but keep in mind that there is a chance that it will not.

Most likely though, even if the trick of removing the seclabel from the install-recovery service in init.rc no longer works, as a last resort the kernel can be switched to permissive mode, until we figure out how to bypass the issue. Your favorite kernel devs know how to do this as well if I'm not here to do it myself.

I don't expect any serious issues, but then again, I know the security guys at Google review SuperSU, so... ;)

Could you please finally add an "update/re-install SU binary" option? I've had a few updates tell me that I need to update my binary but when I click the notification, it just opens SuperSU like normal and doesn't update or offer to update the binary. This is on a vzw gs5 on the latest update.

Will we be warned when the kernel switches to permissive mode?

I use it on Android 5.0 AOSP nexus7(2013) LRX21M, but failed.

Val Ozuna commented on 2014-11-08 at 01:47:

sorry i must have missed a few posts or something. do we still need an unsecure boot.img to gain root on android 5.0 or does this work by just flashing it? thanks and sorry if it has already been answered!

Nevem Nincsen commented on 2014-11-12 at 22:36:

On the Oneplus one it make realy long boot time. 15-20 minutes.

Andrew Price commented on 2014-11-13 at 01:02:

Anyone give this a try yet on today's release of Lollipop for the Nexus 5 or Nexus 7?

Kyle Null commented on 2014-11-13 at 01:21:

+Andrew Price

Root is not currently working on Nexus 5.  Shouldn't take long to get going again, knowing how great Chainfire is.

Josh Moore commented on 2014-11-13 at 01:41:

This may be a stupid question, but will the insecure boot.IMG from the Dev preview work with the retail release?

Andrew Price commented on 2014-11-13 at 01:54:
Kyle Null commented on 2014-11-13 at 02:06:

+Andrew Price I prefer to flash SuperSU through TWRP if possible.

Edit: Looks like Auto Root uses SuperSU v2.20, and the highest I could find is v2.19beta.
