I've just added a TWRP flashable ZIP for SuperSU v2.23 to my download server - see the link in the box at the bottom of this post.

I was busy writing the 5.0 additions for How-To SU when an idea struck me that could fix a number of SELinux policy issues on Lollipop, of which previous attempts to transparently work around resulted in failed boots.

v2.23 is the implementation of those workarounds. Please extensively test this version ASAP on your Lollipop (and KitKat) Android's.

A number of root apps that previously would not work may now start working - please post in the XDA thread if so.

However, there could also be negative side effects, so if something stops working that did work with v2.22, please post about that as well.

(Note that I am not interested in root apps that did not work and still do not work)

I want to get a new version to the Play store in the next few days, so time is of the essence.

Bruce Baxter commented on 2014-11-17 at 23:52:

Does this need the patched kernel from cfar or does this zip do it all? By the way THANK YOU!

Cédric Monféfoul commented on 2014-11-17 at 23:53:

Helium was not working on Lollipop Nexus 7 2013.. Working now ! Thx :)

Chainfire commented on 2014-11-17 at 23:57:

Still requires the patched kernel from CFAR, kernel patching will not be in the mainline SuperSU ZIP, as non-compatible kernels and locked bootloaders will go boom. There will be a separate ZIP available for the kernel patching soon. If you're currently rooted with CFAR you can update by just flashing the ZIP - you only need to CFAR once.

PENG CHENG commented on 2014-11-18 at 13:04:

Guys did you flash a modified boot.img before install supersu. Without this boot.img, supersu didn't work. Does it still required with supersu v2.23?

+Chainfire I can confirm that fx root add-on now works

Igor Lavrentjev commented on 2014-11-18 at 13:19:

Wakelock Detector working again! Thanks man! ?

Roberto Cocchiararo commented on 2014-11-18 at 13:22:

+PENG CHENG I was rooted with CFAR, and when i went to install a custom boot.img that supported F2FS and then on top of that the latest elemental X for my Nexus 5, i lost root. I then flashed SuperSU2.22 (2.23 was not released then) and i got root back.

PENG CHENG commented on 2014-11-18 at 13:54:

+Roberto Cocchiararo Sounds like your SuperSu 2.22 works on custom boot.img after successing root once. Though I flashed orginal boot.img of LRX210(nexus 5) first, then flash supersu with failure. I'll try flash boot.img and supersu again to see if any change.

Jon commented on 2014-11-18 at 14:18:

Are your going to add support for the Nexus 6? The new SU works great on my Nexus 9!

+Chainfire what are those of us with failed nexus 10 root w/ CFAR on release day of lollipop supposed to do?  Are we supposed to re-root with CFAR again or is it still broken on the nexus 10?
