Nothing much wrong with v2.27, but it did have some issues installing on some devices with the very latest TWRP, based on Lollipop sources. This require some hussling around of the installation script

So here's the next test. The full ZIP installer, the TWRP/CWM installer started in-app, and the "normal" installer start in-app have all been adjusted. Test results for all of these are welcome.

Barring major reported issues, this version will start rolling out on the Play Store tomorrow.

Let me know!

SuperSU BETA thread on XDA:

  • Layout adjustments for Nexus Player

  • Installer adjustments for latest TWRPs

  • Hiding icon now also hides from Leanback launcher

  • Icon replacements

  • ACCESS_SUPERUSER permission is gone

Seems to have worked fine here via TWRP on a previously unrooted Nexus 6. Thanks for all your hard work!

+Jorrit Jongma do you mind adding a new call for ACCESS_SUPERUSER ?

+Sayan Goswami ? what and why ?

王君良 commented on 2014-11-26 at 13:55:

I have rooted my nexus5 with cf-auto-root and using 2.20.Can I just install 2.30apk then flash the original boot.img? I don't want to flash recovery.

Nico Fernitz commented on 2014-11-26 at 14:21:

By the way: I am using franco.Kernel in my case. If i want to go back to stock, flashing boot.img is the way to go or is a system.img flash also needed (i don´t know if FK is modifiying something in the system partition)? If so, is it possible to flash without data loss?

Jaret Zen commented on 2014-11-26 at 14:25:

Awesome. Waiting for CF- auto root tool.

Gabriel Linusson commented on 2014-11-26 at 15:08:

+Joao Clash well, then you should update it! ?

TIARA Nurhayati commented on 2014-11-26 at 15:44:

ok ok ok.

Matthias S. commented on 2014-11-26 at 16:03:

So, 2.27 BETA is now pushed into 2.23 final?

So we can use stock unmodified kernel again, flash 2.23 final and it will work? Because Beta 2.23 gave me a bootloop on full stock Lollipop.

Then I rooted with WugFresh Toolkit, which flashed the modified kernel.

Chainfire commented on 2014-11-26 at 17:17:

You can end up with two icons if you selected a custom icon before. The solution is to go into settings and re-select the icon you want, and the second one disappears again

陈华一星 commented on 2014-11-26 at 18:01:

could you make the new “cf auto root” for nexus 5 (Android5.0) with supersu 2.3? please.

David Devenport commented on 2014-11-26 at 18:15:

Updating to this version (2.30) and the latest su pro from the play store resulted in 2 app drawer icons. Both are functional and open the app. I downloaded the su pro update from the store and flashed the su update from your site, in twrp.

David Devenport commented on 2014-11-26 at 19:19:

+Joe Manenti good thing I paid attention and read the comments haha. Thanks worked like a charm.

Bill Brab commented on 2014-11-26 at 20:48:

Worked on Nexus 5 using Philz 6.57.9, thanks for getting root back for us Chainfire!

Michael Zanette commented on 2014-11-26 at 20:53:

I used to use to boot into TWRP openrecovery by typing "fastboot boot <openrecoveryname>" but it seems like on Android 5.0 now and the latest TWRP 2.8.2, I can't do this any longer?  It shows me the TeamWin splash page and then reboots back into standard Android boot.  Is it possible to root without having to flash a different recovery?

Rodney Solomon Jr commented on 2014-11-26 at 22:19:
