SuperSU control and maintenance has been transferred to a newly formed company, Coding Code Mobile Technology LLC ("CCMT").

When I first released SuperSU back in early 2012, I could not have dreamt how big it would become. It has been spectacular seeing it grow from a side project to a popular app totalling almost a hundred million downloads and a couple dozen million active users - significantly more people than live in my entire country. The support of, and encouragement by, many in the Android community over the years has meant more to me than you can possibly imagine.

However, my passion for developing SuperSU has dwindled over the years, and it has gone from being a source of joy and fulfillment to a source of stress and a drain of mental resources. So after three and a half years, it is time to make a change. Over the years I have declined several interesting projects due to my commitment to SuperSU, and while I certainly do not regret doing so, long-term there are other projects and opportunities I am passionate about that I want to persue without having to worry about it.

XDA leadership has introduced me to the people behind CCMT, who will be taking over development and maintenance of SuperSU long-term. While I will continue to work on SuperSU for the moment, my involvement will slowly be phased out over the next two years - by the end of which I will have spent almost six years on this project.

The people at CCMT are no strangers to the root community. They have invested in, or own, a number of popular root apps (though I am not at liberty to disclose which ones) - chances are, you are running one of them right now. I believe SuperSU has found a good home there, and trust time will not prove me wrong.

On a practical note, until further notice (if any), non-Pro SuperSU APKs, ZIPs, etc. are absolutely still free to redistribute in unmodified form.

+Chainfire  Thanks for your hard work on SuperSU and root requiring applications in general. SuperSU remains the undisputed SU app! While i understand the decision, it does make me wonder about SuperSU (pro).

Will the app undergo a name change in the future, anything on the horizon fo pro customers. Will pro users have to repurchase in the future...

With the "free time" coming up, is it safe to say development will restart on "Recently" and "CF.Lumen"? Will you be involved in rooting the new Nesus 5X and 6P?

Other than that, thanks again for all the hard work and good luck in your future coding career.

+Chainfire On the one hand it sounds terrible to hear that you stoped working on SuperSU. Because in my eyes it is one of the gratest Superuser apks.

But on the other hand you gave the work to others. So your work will be continued. I hope that they will continue your work like this project earns to be continued

I totaly understand why you disconnect the work. You will always be in the heart of the people. And you will always be the man who made the greatest superuser apk.

Recently I installed SuperSu on my Kyocera Hydro Icon (has TWRP recovery on device)...  Upon opening SuperSu I was prompted to 'update binaries' and I selected the update button for CWM/TWRP.  Once selecting this button the phone did a reboot and upon the phone coming back on the little green icon man showed up with the turning gears and the update line flashes to about 1/2 inch and then quickly repeats this over and over and over...

Because of this my phone cannot ever boot completely up and does not allow me to boot into my recovery program because of the above problem...

I am urgently asking you provide me with some means of getting around this problem...

I look forward to hearing from you soon.

I appreciate all the work you've put into this over the years, truly. You're a real champion of the community, no doubt! I am somewhat disappointed that you chose to give CCMT access to SSU on your Google Play account, though. Sorry for the incoming wall of text, but this is an important issue for me.

I can deal with losing SuperSU long term if that's your decision, but having updated to 2.78 instinctively without ever knowing about this sale, I feel like my phone could be compromised. Uninstalled and reflashed 2.76 but worried it could already be too late.

I would like to have had the opportunity to make the decision to switch over to an unknown Chinese company's system-level control app myself... whether or not you trust them, that affects the security of my personal information.

+Chainfire

Can you at least reassure that nothing in the source to this point is malicious? I don't know how updates to the source are handled, but this is the first version I haven't seen a zip for and it makes me worry that it could have even modified the system and persisted past uninstall. I assume you wouldn't build and upload a flashable zip without checking over the source, but with CCMT uploading straight to your account I don't have any idea how involved you are with a version they built and uploaded.

Been using this app(pro donation) for years on my trust of you as an individual, but I don't feel the same about an unknown company when bank info and my google account are involved... basically my entire life right there. Thank you for all of your hard work, and I hope that CCMT will prove to be a worthy steward of your legacy in putting control into the hands of the user!
