In the ongoing effort of having root on 6.0 as streamlined and seamless as possible, SuperSU v2.61 BETA was just released.

The last few BETAs have been providing SuperSU installs without touching /system, as we are modifying the boot images anyway. Since a few days ago (v2.60) the ZIP installer automagically does this boot image patching for you (for Android 6.0+, and Samsung 5.1+), significantly reducing the hassle for devices this is compatible with.

While this works great on the 6.0.x stock Nexus firmwares and even custom ROMs such as CM13, we know it still has some issues on for example the G3 and some Samsung 5.1 devices.

Keep in mind this is still a BETA, and you should only be using it if you are tech-savvy enough to fix your device if you mess it up.

In the thread below, the information in posts #2 and #3 are both relevant, with the v2.61 BETA download attached to #3. The information is still a bit scattered and sparse, a clean-up is on the to-do list :)

Nice work. I tryed now with new 6.0.1 factory image on my N7 2013 and N5, both with latest elementalx kernel. Works fine and I have more space in system (for xposed, android pay not available in my country).

But some apps don't have root acces (es file exploer - I do not know about better matching compensation, quick reboot - replaced others app).

Does anyone know if there is an error in the system less access or standard detection method and the requirement to root acces to the applications?

Well, the last inconvenience during the transition 2.52-> 2.61 was to erase history, I had all the apps again allow root access.

I just keep having this problem, and all the apps That need SU root permissions doesn't seem to work propriety. Now, supersu is a stable v2.78 and ES have fixed this problem.

+Ethan M. when you do a root option ("r/w") using say root explorer when moving files for es file explorer to the correct place to get root auth... this will get SuperSU to prompt for "binary update". Just let it do this the normal way, not TWRP & it will download/install right then & there on desktop and prompt to restart. Your good to go after this. If it fails start over. Flash cfSuperSU, do a root "r/w" file move with root explorer and wait for prompt again. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO THOSE EXPERIENCING THIS EXACT BINARY PROMPT
