S7 and S7 Edge (Exynos) CF-Auto-Root available

CF-Auto-Roots for G930F and G935F are available at the repo - http://autoroot.chainfire.eu/

These will very likely also work for other Exynos-based S7 models.

Before flashing, make sure you have enabled "OEM unlock" from "Developer Settings" !

Note that CFAR's display code isn't yet compatible with the S7, as such, there is no output on screen. This means that after flashing with ODIN, the device will only show you the S7 logo, and it seems like nothing happens. Just leave the device alone for 5 minutes. It'll reboot a few times, then boot into Android, but now you have root.

If it still doesn't do anything after 5 minutes, something has gone wrong, and you should probably reflash your stock boot.img and recovery.img.

+Chainfire Will you still buy Samsung devices after the Secure-Bootloader-Afair?

Chris Harpner commented on 2016-03-15 at 19:06:

I got mildly depressed after I bought my S7, then found out about the locked bootloader.  If I didn't get a free S7 along with the one I bought, 2 free Gear VR's, 2 free years of Netflix, and $60 in gift cards, I'd have taken it back. :)

Henny Roggy commented on 2016-03-15 at 19:48:

+Chris Harpner I understand that. But +Chainfire? Why would he ever want to buy an unrootable smartphone? I guess that will be the case of future Samsung smartphones!

Sean Vreeland commented on 2016-03-15 at 20:28:

so has anyone had luck flashing this on the G920T?

Даниел Тончев commented on 2016-03-15 at 20:29:

+Total Security Тhis is the future of carrier branded smartphones ;) If this was Samsung's decision, all devices would have been locked. US carriers requested that. On purpose :) Plus, you can't really have Total Security on a rooted device, heh? (friendly pun inteded :p)

Henny Roggy commented on 2016-03-15 at 21:48:

+Даниел Тончев Mate... You are more secure with the right apps and the right mind set with root ;D

Chris Harpner commented on 2016-03-15 at 22:39:

Depends

Kevin M commented on 2016-03-15 at 22:56:

+Chris Harpner what you do is find a user who wants the same phone on same network sell it to them at market value add a case and such use that money and buy unlocked version

Craig D commented on 2016-03-15 at 22:58:

No more Samsung for me... But thank you chainy for your hard work and efforts on previous cf autoroots which was greatfully appreciated - thank you.

Chris Harpner commented on 2016-03-15 at 22:58:

+Kevin M Are they making unlocked versions?  I searched before I bought this one and found none.

Chainfire commented on 2016-03-15 at 23:05:

+John Cooppers first, that would be a question for the SuperSU threads on XDA, and second, unless the flash itself failed, it's most likely the app (you did not mention which one) is not compatible with the new Android or SuperSU setup and needs an update.

Chainfire commented on 2016-03-15 at 23:06:

+Total Security why wouldn't I ? They're not locked this side of the pond.

Kevin M commented on 2016-03-15 at 23:21:

+Chris Harpner yes just search (gsm unlocked )amazon would.load them once they are available so far haven't seen one yet so far

Chris Harpner commented on 2016-03-16 at 04:28:

Looks like T-Mobile is going to try to fix this.  Hooray!

TitaniumBackup, BusyBox, rootExplorer all works fine

But ES-Explorer. Taskkill Plugin and SecureSetting for Locale don´t work

They dont ask for Root Access

Tested on S7 with SU 2.70 and 2.65

Can anyone confirm whether they were able to successfully (or NONsuccessfully!) root the S7 Edge G935F with the method described here?

It seems quite a high-risk & insufficiently tested method, for which there is apparently no support at all from the developer. Thanks.

Hi Jorrit,

+Chainfire

I got a serious problem with my G935F S7 Edge hero2 device, there no any working ROM (official or custom) booting up, it always send me to the official recovery with the error of "dm-verity verification failed, Check DRK First". Unfortunately, the FRP LOCK is ON so whenever I flash your magic CF-AutoRoot file, it's always blocked giving "custom binary (recovery) blocked by FRP" error.

Can you make the CF-AutoRoot file to skip the FRP lock in Download Mode? i.e.: The device read it as an official binary?

Thanks a lot for your tremendous efforts you're exerting for the whole world.

Regards,
