Two very minor bugfix releases.

A new TWRP was released for the Google Pixel series, now with proper Oreo support. Unfortunately, flashing both TWRP and SuperSU broke TWRP (booting TWRP and flashing SuperSU was fine). This has been corrected with this update.

Aside from that, Oreo devices using file-based encryption refuse to boot with an unencrypted data partition. This update adds a work-around for this. The Pixel is the only device I currently have with this requirement (though it will become the new normal in time), so I've only properly tested it on that. This will allow you to flash back unencrypted backups to previously encrypted devices on stock+rooted firmwares.

The update to suhide hides a few more left-overs than before, including those created by the above feature to bypass the FBE encryption requirement.

The downloads at have already been updated with the new versions.

SuperSU v2.82-SR5 flashable ZIP:

suhide v1.09 flashable ZIP:

  • suinit: Fix (flashed) TWRP 3.1.1 compatibility on Pixel (XL)

  • FBE: allow FBE devices to boot unencrypted (unless KEEPFORCEENCRYPT is set)

  • Remove ODM and OEM mounts

  • Setpropex: set multiple properties

  • Cleanup: remove /boot

+Chainfire Thank you. It will be ok to flash the SR5 and 1.09 on top of the existing SR4 and 1.08 right? No special considerations to watch out for?

mike cram commented on 2017-10-01 at 22:16:

+Major Mike I flashed stock boot images to both slots, booted TWRP, then installed TWRP, rebooted to recovery, then installed sr5 over sr4,rebooted system once, then TWRP flashed suhide 109 over 108. All good.

Thanks chainfire

What is Suhide?

Rain Master commented on 2017-10-02 at 20:26:

+Mixterix AL Suhide allows to hide the fact that the phone is rooted.

Useful for some apps

Major Mike commented on 2017-10-02 at 21:00:

+Mixterix AL As someone already said it is to hide root from certain apps, such as Google Services so you can pass SafteyNet and also to allow apps like Google Play to be Certified which normally both fail if you are rooted.

Howard Fall commented on 2017-10-05 at 00:11:

+Rain Master you can flash ota update using flashfire. Just make sure you read about first. I've been using it a long time, very cool

Howard Fall commented on 2017-10-05 at 21:23:

I have a pixel XL, After you boot new twrp, then you flash the install twrp. Do you need to boot into twrp again to install the new super su and then flash suhide? Or when you boot into twrp, will twrp stick and you can just open twrp as you did before, the normal way. Any help would be appreciated.

Howard Fall commented on 2017-10-07 at 01:44:

I discovered tonight that the new super su. And suhide are downloading corrupted from this site and will not install. I downloaded them from other sources and they worked fine.

Someone who oversees this site should look into this.

Bill A commented on 2017-10-14 at 00:48:

+Brijesh Patel Either your imei is corrupted or blocked in the network for being lost/stolen/unpaid bills.

Check your imei by dialing *#06# (should show a valid number)

Also dial *#0011# and look at the bottom of the screen where the imei status should show OK not NG (no good)!!

How to use and how to root device

Bill A commented on 2017-11-22 at 07:15:

+Thomas Creutz < Because you didn't FORMAT your internal storage first. You must do that from TWRP (FORMAT not WIPE!!) then install SSU.

Good luck!

Thomas C. commented on 2017-11-22 at 20:02:

+Bill A format internal sd? I use SuperSU for so long and had newer before to format my storage?! Also on the first install with LineageOS I had not to do so? And currently I install LineageOS weekly with TWRP zips.. so it means I should wipe my storage every time?! Really?

Bill A commented on 2017-11-23 at 02:20:

Apparently that's what I had to do with my Samsung S7 (G930F) and S8 (G950F), upon initial installation of SSU via TWRP. Keep in mind you only have to do it once during the initial install, and after that you can install all the roms your want without wiping it again.

You may want to back up the internal storage un-encrypted with FlashFire while fully booted, then install TWRP, FORMAT internal storage, install SSU, then once re-booted into Android, do a storage restore via FlashFire. This was you wouldn't loose all your data.

Can you fix SuperSu for the Xiaomi Mi A1 please? It uses the a/b system and I can't use TWRP and SuperSu if both are installed. When I flash TWRP and SuperSu, when I want to reboot to the system, I'm redirected to TWRP...

Thanks, Chainfire, if you can fix that for the Xiaomi Mi A1.

John George commented on 2017-12-22 at 07:30:

Hi chainfire,

I can't express my respect enough, but 2.82 SR5 has problems with 8.1 especially for Pixel phones. It crashes on sepolicy. CCMT does not react on the problem (see the XDA tread). Can you please ask them to attend the problem once you get back? Your help will be greatly appreciated. Hope you have a great and relaxing vacation.

Thank you.

Alex Thomas commented on 2017-12-23 at 10:49:

This is such an easy question... No one can help a fellow brother out?? It's Xmas guys, only comes once a year. :-D

SO.. Should I update my SuperSU to the latest version?

I'm on a Nexus 5 running Android OS 4.4.4 (unlocked & bought from the Google Play Store/online using a desktop pc) and I'm also rooted.

The version I have installed now is "SuperSU Pro v2.79".

Am I behind a bunch of versions or maxed out?

Thanks in advance Chainfire (keep up the great work!) and all y'all other peps on here also. ?. TIA

Alex Thomas commented on 2017-12-23 at 11:06:

Oh yeah... One more thing. Your app doesn't show up in the recently used apps button (see screenshot), I just used your app 3 apps ago and when I tap the button to bring your app back up it's not listed!

Had to be a bug right?

But after rebooting system binary didn't update .. still had stock binary.. but showed root.. I set it back to later come back to while that happen my nephew happen to mess with it.. he got it stock in a boot loop with binary block from ftp I believe is wat it says.. and he also tried a factor reset witch didn't help.. my question is.... How do I fix it???!????? I'm having to use a very slow CPU to do all this with could u send me the links needed to recover it please?????? And the correct binary update for chainfire... It is a Galaxy s6 edge sm-g928p Android 7.0 build number IS NRD90M.G928PVPS3DQL1... THANK YOU VERY MUCH

Alex Thomas commented on 2018-01-12 at 07:38:

Hey, do I need suhide? I'm on a Nexus 5 (rooted, bought from Google Play Store) but in Google Play my phone is uncertified!!

Would suhide fix that for me? I'm still on Android OS 4.4.4 (yeah I know... but this version is so stable and smooth, I can run my phone for 10+ days without having to reboot or power off and then power on).

I'm thinking about getting FlashFire and maybe install a different ROM or do an OTA update. I really wanted the Pixel XL (w/max storage) but I can't see myself paying $1000 for a phone/device! I wanted 2 years after the Nexus 5 came out before I bought it.... SO I COULD AFFORD IT! I paid $400 dollars or so for this phone.

I wish Google would let us buy older phones but they have taken that away now! You can't even buy the Nexus 5X from Google anymore all you can buy from them I'd the Pixel phone!

When the next phone comes out that replaces the Pixel XL they won't go down in price on the Pixel XL they will just quit selling it!

Thanks Google for letting us struggling people buy kick ass phones at a reasonable price (after they are a year or two years old)!!! :'(

when it installed open the app, give root permission than tap the top right x button when it finisb it job look at the list at hide root from all app that have google or com.googlw in it

SuperSU v.2.82 SR5 causes some problems at MIUI 9 Android 6.0.

Just after a flashing or a while later the contacts with a photo assigned can not be opened. Some apps can't select a picture from a storage, and a Privat24 app can't scan a QR code.

On a different cases these different apps are crashed with error in a Zygote.

+SoumyaRanjan Roul That is the same question that I wanted to ask... LOL!

I'm on Android OS version 4.4.4.

I hope it does because I imagine that this I'd the last version?

I know this is off topic but can anyone tell me how to stop a website from pulling up my location without me knowing?

I was using FlashFox Pro and it was giving out my location to a website without telling me. I don't like that... Anyone know how to stop it across all web browsers?
